A credit card is required at check in. Ruttger’s accepts Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express. We also accept cash and approved personal checks. There is an ATM at the resort.
Debit/Credit Card Users
When you present your credit or debit card at check-in, it can take your bank up to ten days for this amount to be released to your account. If you wish to avoid this amount from being held on your banking account, please provide us with another credit card at check-in. If you would like to put your final bill on your debit card, you may switch the form of payment to your debit card at check-out.
Tipping is at your discretion, including in Ruby’s Dining Room and other restaurants and services.
A deposit of 25% of stay with a minimum deposit of 1 nights rate is required.
Receipt of your deposit guarantees space is reserved. For deposit refund, less a $50 cancellation fee, you must cancel at least 60 days prior to your arrival. You will lose your deposit and be charged for your entire stay if cancellation is receive less than 60 days prior to your arrival. If you arrive late or depart early, you will be charged for your entire reservation.
No Show Policy
Rooms will be released at 8 a.m. the day following the reservation, and the complete balance will be processed with the credit card on file. For group reservations, please refer to group contract.
We reserve the right to alter packages. Rates confirmed in your reservation will be honored. Vacation rates are not valid for any conference or meeting.

Check in is after 5 p.m. and check out before noon.
For the enjoyment and comfort of all our guests, we ask that you adhere to our Pet Policy.
- These terms and conditions apply to domesticated pets and do not apply to Service Animals as the Americans with Disabilities Act and applicable state law define that term. Service Animals are welcome at the resort.
- Ruttger’s knows that pets are important members of the family and that your vacation can be more fun when your pet is included. To reserve a room with your pet, you must call and specifically mention you want to bring your pet. Rooms with pets may not be booked without pet reservations and have limited availability in specially designated rooms. A non-refundable pet fee of $25-$35 is charged per day of your stay.
- Only domesticated dogs that weight 60 lbs. or less are permitted to stay at the resort. One pet per unit. Domesticated dogs over 60 lbs. may be permitted to stay at the resort’s sole discretion and must be discussed with the resort’s management prior to making a reservation. The resort management may exclude the pet if it is considered dangerous or likely to frighten, harm, or disturb resort guests.
- Guest must sign a waiver regarding responsibility for any damage caused by the pet. A refundable damage fee of $150 will be charged to the guest’s credit card at check-in. The guest agrees to pay the resort any charges for necessary cleaning and/or repair due to pet damage. Additional fees may apply.
- The guest is responsible for any noise the pet creates and will ensure that the pet does not disrupt the enjoyment of other resort guests.
- The pet must be restrained on a leash or in a pet carrier at all times when outside the guest room. The pet must be caged or on a leash and the guest must be present while the room is serviced. The guest must hang the “Pet in Room” sign outside the room for the duration of the stay.
- The guest must properly remove and dispose of waste associated with their pet from the room and grounds.
- Pets are not permitted in Resort Restaurants, deck areas serving food, outdoor pool area, guest gathering areas, retail shops, beaches, Golf Courses or inside the Main Lodge
- Should the resort management determine in its sole discretion that the pet is objectionable to other resort guests, the guest must immediately make other arrangements to remove and house the pet elsewhere. We can suggest kennel facilities in the area.
Traveler Safety Tips American Hotel & Lodging Association 1. Don’t answer the door in a hotel or motel room without verifying who it is. If a person claims to be an employee, call the Front Desk by dialing 0 and ask if someone from their staff is supposed to have access to your room and for what purpose. 2. Keep your room key with you at all times and don’t needlessly display it in public. Should you misplace it, please notify the Front Desk immediately. 3. Close the door securely whenever you are in your room and use all of the locking devices provided. 4. Check to see that any sliding glass doors or windows and any connecting room doors are locked. 5. Don’t invite strangers to your room. 6. Do not draw attention to yourself by displaying large amounts of cash or expensive jewelry. 7. Place all valuables in the hotel or motel’s safe deposit box. 8. When returning to your hotel or motel late in the evening be aware of your surroundings, stay in well-lighted areas, and use the main entrance. 9. Take a few moments and locate the nearest exit that may be used in the event of an emergency. 10. If you see any suspicious activity, notify the hotel operator or a staff member. 11. Ruttger’s will never call and ask for personal information over the phone. If you receive a call requesting information such as Social Security or credit card numbers, please hang up and contact the Front Desk immediately.
Activities: A weekly schedule of activities is available Memorial Day through Labor Day at the Activities Office and at the Front Desk. Call the Activities Office at 218-678-2885, ext. 2215 for more information.
Airport: Brainerd Lakes Regional Airport is located on Hwy. 210, just east of Brainerd, about 20 minutes from the resort. For flight and rental car information call 218.825.2166. For tickets call Delta Airlines 800.221.1212. Taxi service can be arranged at the Front Desk.
ATM: An ATM is located in the stairway lobby in the main lodge and at the Golf Shop.
Bike Rentals: A variety of bikes are available for rental. Inquire at the Front Desk.
Campfires: Free for all resort guests. Contact the Front Desk if you need assistance starting a fire.

Conferences & Groups: We can accommodate groups from 6 to 300 for conferences, business meetings, incentive travel, or family reunions. For a tour of our conference center, please contact the Sales Office at 218-838-9110, Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Dining: Breakfast and dinner are served in Ruby’s. Reservations are recommended for dinner, 218-678-4644. Zig’s offers lunch and dinner dining overlooking the 18th hole. The Bear Pine Bar offers lunch, dinner and takeout service during the summer season from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Auntie M’s Coffeehouse, open daily in the summer, has specialty coffees, espresso drinks, pastries, candy, and ice cream. Call the Front Desk at 0 for after-hours pizza service.
Dress Code: In Ruby’s we recommend resort attire and ask that gentlemen remove their hats.
Exercise Room: An exercise room for ages 16 and up is located near the pool area in the Main Lodge. Please pick up a door key at the Front Desk.
Fishing: Resident and non-resident fishing licenses can be purchased from Front Desk or online. The Marina rents fishing boats and motors and sells bait. A state public water access site is located on Battle Point Road, one mile east of the main lodge.
Game Room: Ping pong, pool table, and games are located on the mezzanine in the Main Lodge. Puzzles and board games are in the Activities Office.
Gifts: Fun gift items are at the Country Store, The Garage, Auntie M’s Coffeehouse, Golf Shop, the Lobby Shop and The Fine Line Salon and Spa. Inquire at the Front Desk for store hours.
Gift Baskets: We are very proud of our made-to-order gift baskets for nearly any occasion. Call Miranda at 218-678-4673.
Gift Cards: Ruttger’s gift cards are available for purchase at the Front Desk, Golf Pro Shop and all of our restaurants and shops.
Golf: Jack’s 18 course is a par 72, covering over 6,800 yards from the back tees. Enjoy wildlife and the placid waters of Goose and Bass Lakes. Alec’s Nine is a par 33 designed to be a full and relaxing round of golf. Golf Tee Times: Tee times can be made on either Jack’s 18 or Alec’s Nine by dialing 218-678-4646. Golf lessons, golf cart, and club rentals available. The Golf Shop carries leading brands of men’s and women’s golf apparel, equipment and golf accessories.
Grills: Units with kitchens may rent a grill by calling the Front Desk. Guests staying at the Bay Lake Villas may use the gas grills by the vending machine building.
Ice: Machines are located in the Main Lodge (guest laundry area), downstairs in Five Pines Lodge, in the Bay Lake Villas vending building and at North Bay Condos outside #552 (seasonally).
Internet Access: A computer is available for guest use near the Front Desk. Dial 0 for information. Wi-Fi is available in public spaces and the lodging units.
Kids’ Kamp: Available Monday through Saturday for children ages 4-13. Kids’ Kamp is offered Mother’s Day and Memorial Day weekends and Father’s Day weekend through Labor Day. Activities include crafts, games, fishing, swimming, pontoon picnics and more. Call the Activities Office at 218-678-2885, ext. 2215 for more information.
Laundry: Coin laundries are located near the Front Desk. Detergent can be purchased in the Lobby Shop.
Liquor/Bar: Off-sale beer, wine, and liquor are available for sale. We feature a selection of Rüttger wines imported from our family winery in Germany – please inquire at the Bear Pine Bar and Lobby Shop.
Mail Service: Stamps may be purchased at the Front Desk. Mail is taken to the Deerwood Post Office daily, Monday – Friday. All arriving mail will be held at the Front Desk, and the message light on your telephone will be activated.
Medical Services: Call 911 in a medical emergency.
Messages: If your message light is on, please dial 2000 and wait for prompts.
Newspapers/Magazines: Daily newspapers are for sale in the Lobby Shop. Magazines and books are for sale at the Lobby Shop.
Pack ‘n Plays & Roll-aways: Pack ‘n Plays and roll-aways are available. Fees may apply. Dial 0 for information.
Pets: We have a limited number of pet-friendly units for an additional charge. Please inquire at the Front Desk.
Pool & Sauna: An outdoor pool and deck is located lakeside at the Main Lodge. An indoor pool, hot tub, and sauna are near the front lobby.

Shipping Services: Personal packages will be held for guests on a temporary basis. Outgoing packages can be shipped via mail or Fed Ex from the Front Desk. Fed Ex packages must be at the Front Desk, when this service is available, by noon to guarantee next day delivery. Outgoing UPS deliveries are handled at The Garage. Pick-up time is approximately 11 a.m., Monday – Friday. Call 218-678-4673 if you have questions.
Shopping: The Garage at Ruttger’s has a large collection of custom-designed t-shirts and other wearables, gifts, toys, souvenirs and many fun items! At Auntie M’s Coffeehouse, enjoy espresso drinks, specialty coffees, teas, ice cream, candy, souvenirs and gifts. You’ll love the atmosphere! For the golf shopper, the Golf Shop is stocked with men’s and women’s golf apparel, shoes, and accessories. The Lobby Shop is your source for grocery essentials, sundries, snacks, souvenirs, newspapers and magazines, as well as some apparel and gift items. The Country Store, built in 1906, has an exceptional variety men’s and women’s apparel, shoes, jewelry and accessories, gifts, collectibles, and home décor items. Aveda hair and skin care products are carried at The Fine Line Salon and Spa at Ruttger’s.
Shuttle Service: Ask the Front Desk for complimentary shuttle service to and from Zig’s. For a fee, shuttles are also available to Brainerd Lakes Regional Airport and local destinations.
Smoking: All units are non-smoking. Guests who smoke inside sleeping rooms or any inside common areas will be subject to a minimum charge of $150, up to the actual cleaning costs to restore the room to its original smoke-free state.
Spa Services: The Fine Line Salon and Spa at Ruttger’s, an Aveda Concept Salon, offers a full line of Aveda products, manicures, pedicures, therapeutic massage, and hair services. Call 218-678-2885, ext. 2157 for appointments.
Special Menu Service: We can pack a picnic lunch, bake a birthday or anniversary cake, or accommodate most dietary restrictions. Advance notice is needed and fees may apply. Please call 218-678-4644 for more information.
Storms: In case of severe storms, seek shelter in designated areas detailed in the Storm Shelter Section below.
Tennis: Rackets can be checked out in the Activities Office. Tennis courts are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please limit play to one hour if others are waiting. If your schedule requires a court booking or an available court at a certain time, please contact the Activities Office at 218-678-2215. Private lessons can be arranged by contacting the Activities Office.
Valuables: Your personal valuables may be stored in a safe deposit box during your stay. Please make arrangements with the Front Desk. Ruttger’s is not responsible for valuables left in guest rooms.
Vending Machines: These are located in the game room, at the Bay Lake Villas vending building, and in the downstairs hallway of Five Pines Lodge.

Please be aware of the weather and your surroundings while on the golf course or on the water. Take cover immediately if Ruttger’s Emergency Alert siren is sounded!

It should then connect. TROUBLESHOOTING TIPS Occasionally there can be various factors outside of our control that contribute to issues with connecting to the Wi-Fi such as the weather or the device that is being used to connect. Below are some common issues and recommended steps for troubleshooting these issues. If, after following these steps, you are still having problems connecting or using the Wi-Fi, please dial zero to report what you are seeing and we will investigate the cause and find a resolution as soon as possible. Please understand that due to reasons related to liability we cannot make any changes to or touch any guest’s personal property. PROBLEM: You do not see Ruttgers Wireless as one of the options in the list. • Make sure that wireless is enabled on your device. • Force your device to connect. Windows Users: go into Control Panel > Network and Sharing > Set up a new connection or network > Manually connect to a wireless network • Network Name: Ruttgers Wireless • Security Type: No authentication (Open) • Security Key: Leave blank • Click Next Mac Users: You can also force-join an SSID that has stopped broadcasting through a Mac’s Airport Utility. Select to join Other and type in the name of the network and password. See if you can find the signal from another area in the unit that you are staying in. Some devices have less range when detecting Wi-Fi signals. Our access points are placed in locations that should be sufficient for most devices. MAKING SURE YOUR WIRELESS IS ENABLED There are many different ways to do this, depending on the device. Here are several methods: • Check the exterior of your laptop for a switch or button to turn off and on your wireless and ensure it’s in the ON position. Often there will be an icon such as one of these next to it: • Enable your wireless in your operating system.
